From Near-Death to Full Health: Why I Wrote Data Driven Health
Three months ago, I was lying in a hospital bed, staring at an IV drip, unsure if Iâd make it through the night.
I was battling a gangrenous appendix and the terrifying spread of abdominal necrosis. I needed emergency surgery but it was not happening. What truly terrified meâand my doctorsâwas my elevated troponin levels, a stark signal that my heart might fail under anesthesia.

During four long days, I was genuinely between a rock and a hard place: my appendix was rupturing, yet my heart enzymes rendered the operating table too risky.
Fast forward to today: Iâm not just alive â Iâm thriving. Stronger, healthier, and more resilient than ever before.
How did I get here?

The Power of Data
This wasn't my first close call. In 2016, an undiagnosed heart condition surfaced unexpectedly, landing me on an ER gurney and I found myself saying goodbye to my wife.

After that harrowing experience, I became obsessed with tracking my health. Not in a casual, wearable-tracker way â but in a deep, data-driven, bioinformatics-inspired way.
I built my own devices like the OpenHolter, meticulously analyzed my bloodwork trends, monitored my heart rhythms, and experimented with targeted nutrition protocols.

This wasnât about chasing trends or fleeting fads. It was about understanding my body like an engineer â transforming complex biological signals into actionable insights.
When my life was on the line, this data wasn't just a collection of numbers on a spreadsheet. It became my detailed roadmap back to health.

Why Data Driven Health?
After surviving this ordeal (my second near-death experience), I knew I couldnât keep these lessons to myself.
I wrote Data Driven Health to share:
- How to safely and effectively collect and interpret your own health data.
- Why animal fats and metabolic health can dramatically improve your current health and your resilience to future and unexpected events.
- What mainstream health advice gets dangerously wrong.
- Practical, actionable frameworks you can start using todayâno lab coat or PhD required.
This book is more than just my story. Itâs about equipping you with the tools to write your health story, grounded in data, not dogma.

Who Is This Book For?
â
For those with mysterious health conditions and symptoms that never go away.
â
The curious self-experimenter who loves numbers and optimization.
â
The health-conscious individual tired of generic advice and quick fixes.
â
The skeptic who demands evidence, not empty promises.
â
Anyone who wants to build a resilient, anti-fragile body capable of withstanding lifeâs biggest shocks.
Why Now?
Your health can change in an instant â mine did.
I realized that waiting for a health crisis to ignite your self-care is like waiting for a car crash to start wearing a seatbelt.
Data Driven Health is my seatbelt. It can be yours too.
What You'll Learn
- How metabolic health impacts not just weight, but also immunity, healing, and even mental clarity.
- The root cause of many "untreatable" conditions affecting millions.
- The critical role of animal fats and why theyâve been unfairly demonized.
- How to track (and actually understand) essential metrics like heart rate variability, A.G.E. markers, visceral fat, and albumin levels.
- The mindset shifts that can make or break your healing journey.
Join Me
I didnât write this book to simply add another âhealth bookâ to your shelf. I wrote it to be actionable: empowering people to take back control of their biology, one data point at a time.
If my story resonates with you â if youâre ready to stop guessing and start knowingâ I invite you to read Data Driven Health.
Your journey might not begin in a hospital bed like mine did. But the sooner you start, the stronger and healthier youâll become.
